In the wake of the recent Southern California wildfires, Farmers made a $200,000 contribution to the California Department of Forestry (CDF) Firefighters Benevolent Fund at its annual meeting in December 2007. The fund was created to provide assistance to firefighters injured on the job. It also reaches out to burn victims in California. One hundred percent of the funds are distributed to individuals in need of assistance.
Through September 2006, nearly 25,000 Farmers people donated more than 100,000 volunteer hours in communities that we serve.
Through Farmers’ fund-raising efforts with WalkAmerica in 2006, we raised close to $3 million dollars - including a record of $1.5 million in one day for our Be A Hero for Babies Campaign. Farmers is the largest insurance company contributing to the overall success of the March of Dimes.
In 2005, Farmers donated more than $400,000 to the Red Cross to help the victims of hurricane Katrina. Half of the funds came from employee, agent and district manager donations with Farmers Home Office donating the other half. Additionally for Tsunami relief efforts (also in 2005), employees, agents and district managers donated more than $200,000.
